Notes on this view:

This image depicts La Corbière Lighthouse on the island of Jersey off the coast of Normandy, France. Located in the English Channel, the lighthouse was built in 1847 and was designed by British architect and marine engineer, Sir John Coode. When finished, it measured one hundred and thirty-five feet and was the first lighthouse in the British Isles to be made from cement. Interestingly, it is possible to tell that this picture was taken during high tide, as the causeway connecting the lighthouse rocks to the main island is covered by water.
