Notes on this view:

This professionally photographed "candid" image captures a moment at a young man's Bar Mitzvah in 1952. This Jewish coming-of-age service is often followed by a formal reception, akin to a wedding reception, in which a professional photographer may be employed to document the event. Notice as the family sits at a head table listening to a speech being given by the man standing in the back, only the young man engages with the camera. The date attribution for this photograph is taken from the elaborate cake, which has both the Hebrew and secular calendar dates.
