Notice this studio portrait is very casual, yet seems intentional and posed. As photography became less expensive, studio portraiture became less formal. The tintype was a very cheap and quick way to have a portrait made. This portrait was likely made by a low-end studio or an itinerant photographer because it is relatively poorly made.
