Notes on this view:

This miniature card measures 2 ½ in. x 1 ¼ in., significantly smaller than a carte de visite. To make this object, a cabinet card was re-photographed with a smaller negative. The negative was then contact printed onto collodion printing-out paper. Notice the edges of the negative were printed into the image and are visible, particularly along the top and right edges. Also notice the decorative border is printed in, and is therefore also made up of silver image particles.
