Notes on this view:

This tourist image of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel (Paris) with the Louvre in the background was taken in the 1970s before the construction of the Pyramid. It was taken using a fisheye lens. The fisheye lens was introduced in 1972 for meteorologic and astronomical research, but was quickly adopted for other purposes. The lens creates an optical distortion and a circular vignette, such as this.

Notice the shadow of the photographer in the foreground.
