Notes on this view:

This commercial studio portrait is commonly known as a carte de visite (cdv). It consists of a print mounted to a thicker paper card. The card has square corners and two bronze ink lines surrounding the print, indicating that it dates from the 1860s. The strong vignette around the woman's head in this print, is typical of roughly half of the portraits made during the 1860s. Portraits depicting the entire sitter were also popular. This is an early example.
